Telteca Winery (Mendoza, Argentina)

Telteca Roble Chardonnay


Telteca means “ripe fruit” in the Huarpe aboriginal language. The Huarpes were the tribe that originally lived in Mendoza. The Telteca line was created as a token of appreciation and admiration for the Huarpe people, who were the creators of our acequias, the narrow ditches used to distribute water to irrigate the vineyards and nourish the vines that will in turn yield their best “ripe fruit.”

Region                        Barrancas, Maipú, Mendoza, Argentina

Altitude                      850 meters above sea level.

Viticulture                  Espalier training system. Controlled productions. Drip irrigation. Manual harvest.

Vinification                Pressing after a short period of cold skin maceration, then fermentation at temperatures around 15°C - 59ºF. After fermentation, contact with a low percentage of sediments to foster structure and complexity. Part of this wine continues its elaboration process in American oak. Then, it is blended with the wine stored in stainless steel tanks. After stabilization, filtration and bottling, it is aged for 3 months

Winemaker’s Comments

 

Color                          Pale yellow with wheat color hues.

Aroma                        It displays aromas of peaches and honey, with subtle notes of green apples and banana.

Flavor                         Balanced acidity that is complemented with a creamy texture which highlights soft notes of butter. A wine with volume and a fresh and persistent finish.

Food Pairing              Salmon and seafood, fowl, soft cheese. Pasta with herbal sauces.
