TRADITIONS THAT IMPROVE WITH AGE
THE ZANIN DISTILLERY WAS FOUNDED IN 1895 BY THE PRESENT OWNER'S GRANDFATHER. DESPITE ITS CONSTANT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT, IT IS STILL A FAMILY FIRM AND NOW, AFTER MORE THAN A CENTURY, IT IS RUN BY THE FOURTH GENERATION.
A careful selection of raw materials and the best distillation techniques are therefore the natural consequence of an unbroken link between the present and the past - that of our family and its professional evolution as well as the great events of recent history. This interrelationship produced our family's undying, intense passion for our work and for the quality of the fruits of our work.

Before, even, our grappa is produced we conceptualise every production: we painstakingly prepare the conditions for the evolution of the finished spirit. We distil directly from the fresh skins of grapes that have already given their character to the richly fermenting juice that will, in time, become wine. Zanin has built its mark on grappas of distinction, clear and captivating, flavourful, rich in delicate aromas, grappas of subtlety, generosity and interest. Grappa, a refined and precious drink, is to be savoured slowly and with meditation. Every grappa remembers the effort to extract from the earth the elements that go into its production, the work required to bring it to fruition and the comfort, joy and pleasure of those things springing from nature. Slowly the harvest arrives, the grapes fat on the vines, a succulent juice rich in natural sugars, a skin hording rich flavours produced, in each variety, from the action of the deep earth and the burning sun. It is the skin that flavours the wine and the grappa, it is the skin that is the part most delicate of the grape and that most difficult to conserve and distil. The volatile aromas, those most precious, must be captured and transported, drop by drop, into a concentrated and pure state. The very best grappas are aged in barrels of Slovenian oak where they are enriched by the action of the wood, slowly moving towards maturity where, at the end, their bottling closes the cycle that began with the taking from the earth, the working and the transformation by fire and the eventual distillation and maturation of that water-clear spirit.
